25/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Commission launches two big consultations. On Thursday 24 September, the European Commission launched two consultations in the digital field. These involve European citizens and industries (especially SMEs). The first consultation is on geo-blocking (this refers to the restrictions based on the geographical criteria that prevent the purchase and sale of goods and services from one country to another within the EU). The second consultation is on the economic role of on-line platforms (for example, search engines, social media, video-sharing websites). This second consultation aims to improve the free movement of data and the European cloud, and to determine the liability of intermediaries as regards illegal content hosted online.
