22/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - Victims of Hissène Habré need justice. The opening of the trial in the Senegalese capital Dakar on Monday 20 July of former president of Chad Hissène Habré has been welcomed by the EU as offering hope to victims, to international justice and to national reconciliation. “This process will deliver justice to victims and strengthen international criminal justice in the global fight against impunity. The European Union has given its support to and has worked alongside the African Union, Senegal and Chad so that this trial, which will help reconciliation in Chad, takes place”, said the spokesperson of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
