Brussels, 22/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 20 July, the Council adopted, without debate, conclusions about the position of the EU and member states in view of the second Meeting of the Signatories of the Memorandum of Understanding on the conservation of migratory sharks (Sharks MoU).
This protocol was concluded as part of the Framework Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals.
The Council conclusions also concern the decision-making procedures and a technical update of the list of shark species affected.
The Sharks MoU is a non-legally binding instrument. The EU and several member states (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom) are signatories to the Sharks MoU, which was signed in November 2011. (Lionel Changeur)
