17/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - Tusk says too early to speak of European conference on debt. “Debt is a global problem. We must open a discussion, and see it as a continental European challenge. But it is too early to speak of a conference on debt”, said European Council President Donald Tusk in an interview published on Friday 17 July by French newspaper Le Monde. Even if the negotiations on a third aid plan for Greece include the thorny issue of the Greek debt (see other article), Tusk does not, however, think that it is necessary “to focus the discussion on Greek debt relief”. “We must be careful because this debate is also risked in other European countries. I don't want to create fear for these countries with this subject, countries which will again have to help Greece”, he added. (MB)
