Brussels, 13/07/2015(Agence Europe) - The British Prime Minister, David Cameron, intends to request another opt-out on social affairs and would particularly like to withdraw from the directives on working time and temporary work, according to reports in several British newspapers, such as The Times and Daily Telegraph. These initiatives could form part of the proposals the Conservative Prime Minister may put forward to his European partners as part of the re-negotiations on the relationship between the United Kingdom and the EU. This relationship will be put to a vote by the British electorate in a referendum in 2017.
Cameron's idea would be to introduce an opt-out on social affairs and guarantee this opt-out by amending the treaties to ensure that social policy remains within the exclusive jurisdiction of the member states. (Solenn Paulic)
