09/07/2015 (Agence Europe) - Automobile sales up for 2015. The European automobile manufacturers' association (ACEA) has presented its upwardly revised forecasts for automobile sales for 2015 - with a growth rate of 5% for the year. The predicted growth would reportedly represent stronger sales than the 13 million vehicles from last year, but would nevertheless remain below the new registrations of 2007 before the crisis, when around 16 million new vehicles were registered. “Despite this positive forecast, we cannot afford to become complacent. Today, EU car sales are behind those of China and the USA, where sales have now recovered to pre-crisis levels”, said ACEA secretary general, Erik Jonnaert. He urged European legislators to set an appropriate framework for innovation and international trade. (PH)
