22/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - Mimica in Nepal for conference on country's reconstruction. European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica will fly to Kathmandu on Wednesday 24 June in order to take part in the international conference on Nepal's reconstruction, which is being hosted by the government of Nepal on 25 June. Mimica is expected to express the EU's solidarity with the survivors of the earthquakes that devastated the country in April and May. He is also expected to announce a significant financial contribution from the European Commission, in addition to the €22.6 billion in aid that has already been provided to address the wide-scale humanitarian crisis (see EUROPE 11307). The conference - Towards a Resilient Nepal - will bring together heads of state and government, ministers and senior officials from Nepal's neighbouring countries, international organisations and other development actors.
