Baltic gas project by E.ON, Shell, OMV and Gazprom

Brussels, 18/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - On the sidelines of the Saint Petersburg international economic forum on Thursday 18 June, the heads of European energy firms E.ON (Germany), Shell (United Kingdom/Netherlands) and OMV (Austria) signed memorandums of understanding with the head of Russian gas giant Gazprom to cooperate on developing gas transport capacity for the direct supply of Russian gas to Europe.

These protocols reflect the parties' intentions to implement a project for the construction of two gas pipelines through the Baltic Sea from Russia to Germany with an annual throughput capacity of 55 billion cubic metres. The parties will proceed with the incorporation of a joint company for the implementation of the project in the near future, Gazprom says in a press release. (Emmanuel Hagry)
