Brussels, 09/06/2015 (Agence Europe) - In Strasbourg on Tuesday 9 June, the European Parliament adopted a report by its president, the Polish Christian Democrat Czeslaw Adam Siekierski, approving the proposal of the European Commission to reduce direct payments for 2015 by 1.39%.
This reduction in direct aid is necessary to feed into the 2016 crisis reserve of the agricultural budget of the EU, to the tune of €441.6 million.
The proposal raised no comments from the experts of the member states of the EU, meeting at the Special Committee on Agriculture (SCA) in early May. Under the legislation, the proposal must be formally adopted by the Council and the EP by 30 June. (Lionel Changeur)
