Brussels, 29/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 28 May, the European Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Poland calling on it to comply with a number of obligations under the legislation of the EU on document security, the Commission says in a press release.
In its reasoned opinion, the Commission calls on Poland to set in place the obligatory exchange of information provided for under EU legislation on document security, as laid down in Regulation 1030/2002. Three years after the deadline set, 20 May 2012, Poland has still not set in place a single point of contact for the purposes of the correct implementation of the standards on security elements and effective communication between member states. Setting these points of contact in place is obligatory and aims to allow the exchange of information necessary for access to fingerprint images stored on the chips of certain documents (passports and residence permits).
