Transfers of rights between farmers authorised in France

Brussels, 13/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has just officially confirmed to France that its farmers will be able to transfer references under the same conditions as the other kinds of transfer, a French Agriculture Ministry press release of Friday 10 April announces.

The press release notes that, “on 10 March 2015, (French Agriculture Minister) Stéphane Le Foll pledged to the professional agricultural organisations that farmers would, like other farmers, be able to transfer their references to another farmer taking on all or part of their holding, thereby allowing this latter to be allocated basic payment rights (BPRs). There was legal uncertainty with regard to this”. A form specifically for this type of transfer will be produced and disseminated in the next few days, the Ministry states. In the press release, Le Foll says that this is “of major significance in applying the common agricultural policy fairly, allowing all situations to be dealt with without discrimination between owner farmers and farmers” (our translation throughout).
