Brussels, 13/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has provided EUROPE with details of the action plans on absorption of European funding for the period 2007-2013 (see EUROPE 11292). Four countries' plans (those of Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Romania) have already been approved by DG Regio. The four other states concerned (Italy, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary) have yet to submit their draft plans.
In view of the politically sensitive nature of this issue, the Commission will give no further information - just like the member states themselves. Regional Policy Commissioner Corina Cretu will be in Romania on 15 April. She will visit projects co-financed by the EU and will meet Transport Minister Ioan Rus. No meeting is scheduled with Marius Nica, who was recently appointed Minister for European Funding. (Jean Comte)
