Growth in Greece reached 0.8% in 2014. - According to an announcement on 13 March by the Greek national statistics services, Elstat, in its first estimate for the year, the Greek economy grew by 0.8% in 2014. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased in real terms to €186.5 billion as opposed to €185.1 billion in 2013. Elstat explained that the second estimate would be published soon. Greece and its lenders from the European Union and International Monetary Fund (IMF) were counting on growth of 0.6% GDP for 2014, despite the official estimate from the previous government's treasury department putting this figure at 0.7%.
