Euro-Mediterranean outlook debated at Parliament

Brussels, 13/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 11 March, the Mediterranean policy and its outlook in the context of remodelling the European neighbourhood policy (ENP) was the focus of discussions on the sidelines of the European Parliament's plenary session in Strasbourg. The discussions took place at the initiative of European Parliament President Martin Schulz, who sits on the bureau of the Euromed Parliamentary Assembly (PA-UfM).

The working session brought together European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, Secretary General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Fathallah Sijilmassi, and parliamentary members of the PA-UfM. According to a press release published after the discussions, “the common resolve to build strong regional cooperation” was reaffirmed. The MEPs “expressed their interest in strengthening the political and operational dimensions” of the common dialogue that already exists. (Fathi B'Chir)
