06/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - Greek MEP criticises Mogherini and Hahn's language on Macedonia. On Thursday 5 March, Sofia Sakorafa MEP (GUE/NGL, Greece) criticised the repeated use of the term “Macedonia” by High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini and European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn to describe the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia when they were at a press conference on the neighbourhood policy. Sakorafa described this behaviour as “misguided” and “unethical” with regard to international law, and the decisions of the United Nations and EU. “We believe this was a linguistic-political slip inadvertently made and for this reason we call on the high representative to proceed to a refutation, expecting that in future this issue will be treated with proper attention”, Sakorafa stated.
