Brussels, 13/02/2015 (Agence Europe) - A research programme into ways of making the EU cohesion policy more efficient was adopted by the European Commission on Friday 13 February. By means of analyses and information on various subjects, the EPSON programme will allow the European Commission to make choices in drafting “clearer and more efficient” policy, according to the European Commissioner for regional development, Corina Cretu. The programme covers all of the member states of the EU and will be financed out of the European Regional Development Fund with an envelope of €41 million (out of €48 million).
This programme is one of several dozen to have been adopted since the beginning of this year which are financed by the European structural funds in 2014-2020. By the end of this month, the Commission will have adopted around 50 further programmes. There will then be fewer than 100 left, out of 366 in total, still awaiting endorsement, so that all of the programmes financed can be approved. (MD)
