Brussels, 08/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - The European Union and the United States will continue to cooperate in the areas of cybersecurity and cyberspace, stated European and American representatives after the inaugural EU-US Cyber Dialogue in Brussels on Friday 5 December.
The two partners hailed the consensus reached between the two sides of the Atlantic on international security, stating that existing international law also applies to cyberspace. They pledged to work for multi-stakeholder internet governance in a spirit of transparency and collaboration. They also hailed the continuing cooperation of both sides of the Atlantic on cybersecurity through the joint Working Group on Cybersecurity and Cybercrime. And both sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights online.
The next meeting will take place in Washington in one year's time. (IL)
