Brussels, 31/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - The restrictive measures against Belarus, including an arms embargo and an embargo on equipment used for internal repression, were extended on Thursday 30 October until 31 October 2015. The legal acts were published in the Official Journal of the EU on Friday 31 October.
The Council has removed 24 people and 7 entities from its list of people and entities subject to sanctions. The following companies are thus no longer subject to restrictive measures: the companies belonging to oligarch Yury Chizh - JLLC Neftekhimtrading, JLLC Triplepharm and LLC Triple-Veles - as well as Private Unitary Enterprise (PUE) BT Telecommunications, owned by oligarch Vladimir Peftiev. The three companies belonging to oligarch Anatoly Ternavsky - Univest-M, FLLC Unis Oil and JLLC UnivestStroyInvest - have also been removed from the list, as has Ternavsky himself.
However, 201 people “responsible for human rights violations” remain subject to an assets freeze and visa ban in the EU, and 18 entities still have their assets frozen in the EU. (CG)
