On Monday, the EU expressed its concern about the deteriorating situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) but welcomed the increasing strength of the United Nations' Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), which is expected to help towards the stabilisation of the country. The Council conclusions were adopted without debate on Monday 20 October in Luxembourg on the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council. They underline the importance of bringing the violence to a halt and making progress in the political process. They also confirm the political agreement seeking to extend until 15 March next, the mandate for the EU mission to the Central African Republic, EUFOR, in response to the request to extend it made by the Central African authorities.
