On Wednesday 24 September, the representatives of the governments of the member states appointed Constantinos Lycourgos (Cyprus) as judge to the Court of Justice of the European Union, with effect from 7 October 2014 for the remainder of the term of office of George Arestis, which ends on 6 October 2018. They also reappointed Koen Lenaerts (Belgium) and Rosario Silva de Lapuerta (Spain) for a further six years from 7 October 2015 to 6 October 2021. The post of twelve further judges and four advocates general will become vacant on 6 October 2015 in the context of the partial renewal of the Court of Justice, which is composed of 28 judges and nine advocates general appointed for a term of office of six years, renewable.
