24/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - Discussions continue on Iranian nuclear programme. On Wednesday 24 September, Michael Mann, the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, announced that the discussions between the E3+3 (Germany, France, the United Kingdom and China, the United States, Russia) and Iran on the nuclear programme “are continuing at all levels”. Nevertheless, according to a European source, there has not yet been any meeting at ministerial level, although this could happen before the end of the week. “Meetings are aimed at making progress on the core issues of a potential comprehensive solution, focusing in particular on [uranium] enrichment and sanctions relief”, said Mann. “Making progress during this week will be key for being able to reach a comprehensive agreement before the 24 November deadline”, in other words in two months' time, added Mann. Talks resumed on 19 September through a plenary session (see EUROPE 11158). (CG)
