Scope of consumer protection in case of charge on family home

Brussels, 10/09/2014 (Agence Europe) - In a judgment (C-34/13) given on Wednesday 10 September, the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled on the scope of consumer protection in the case of a credit agreement secured by a charge on the family home.

The ECJ was questioned by the Regional Court of Presov in Slovakia on the scope of protection conferred by Directive 93/13/EEC as regards unfair clauses in contracts concluded with consumers. A case was taken to the Presov court in which a...
