Brussels, 22/08/2014 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission has approved the French operational programme for the implementation of the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD).
With Community support of €499 million plus a national envelope of €88 million, the French programme will be implemented on the ground with the assistance of four associations: the French Red Cross, the Fédération française des banques alimentaires, the Restaurants du cœur and the Secours populaire.
France becomes the first member state to receive this approval, announced ministers Marisol Touraine (Health and Social Affairs) and Stéphane Le Foll (Agriculture) and Secretary of State Ségolène Neuville (Fight against Exclusion), in a joint press release published on Thursday 21 August.
The FEAD, which was launched in January 2014, has a budget of €3.8 billion to run until 2020. (MB)
