Brussels, 22/05/2014 (Agence Europe) - On 21 May, the European Council adopted conclusions on gender equality in sport. It calls on member states to eradicate sexist stereotypes, to promote, in cooperation with sports organisations, the prevention of sexist-related violence in sport and to protect victims of sexual abuse and harassment in sport. The European Commission is requested to support trans-national initiatives based on these principles. (IL)
