Erasmus+ launched in Italy

Brussels, 09/04/2014 (Agence Europe) - Erasmus+ is continuing its tour of member states with a visit to Italy. In Florence on 10 April, European Commissioner for Education Androulla Vassiliou and Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, will present the new multiannual education and youth programme. Between 2007 and 2013, around 220,000 students, young people, teachers, trainers and youth workers took part in the previous education and youth programmes in Italy. The Commission believes that this figure could rise to 330,000 people with Erasmus+ over the next seven years. In 2014, Italy will receive €124 million under the new programme, a rise of 12% compared to the amount obtained in 2013. Italy is expected to receive an increased amount every year until 2020.
