Brussels, 01/04/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 31 March, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Ashton, stated that the prime ministers of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, and of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, and the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, have “almost concluded their discussions on justice”, at the latest dialogue meeting.
“Pending the necessary adjustments the package will be finalised at the next meeting”, Ashton added in a press release. “The two sides … agreed to meet again shortly”, she went on to say, without giving further details. The parties discussed the next steps in the dialogue. Vucic voiced his hopes that the agreement would be finalised before the end of this month.
Thaci said that only a few minor problems, which the experts will deal with, remained to be resolved. He is also confident that the agreement will be finalised at the next dialogue meeting. Vucic explained that the President of the Court in Kosovska Mitrovica will be a Serb, as will many judges and prosecutors.
Ashton met Thaci and his team, and then Dacic and Vucic ahead of a joint meeting. It is also worth noting that the new Serbian government will be formed on 27 April and Ashton will travel to the country soon after that, Vucic announced. (CG)
