Brussels, 24/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 24 February, Greece's Minister for Foreign Affairs Evangelos Venizelos - whose country currently holds the presidency of the Council of the EU - said he was in favour of an international conference with a view to staving off “bankruptcy” for Ukraine (see previous article).
“Civil war must be avoided. The country's economic and financial collapse must be avoided, and an international conference must be organised to avoid Ukraine's bankruptcy”, said Venizelos in Budapest.
Venizelos - who was invited to a meeting in Hungary of the Visegrad group of four countries (Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic) - believed it was important that, as well as the EU, the US and Russia take part in the stabilisation of Ukraine. (LC/transl.fl)
