Brussels, 19/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 19 February, the Franco-German Council of Ministers in Paris reaffirmed its political, military, civil and humanitarian commitment to the stabilisation of Mali. Backing up their words with actions, France and Germany decided, during this meeting, to commit troops from the Franco-German Brigade (FGB) to Mali as part of the European EUTM Mali mission for training Malian armed forces.
“This initial deployment under the EU and in an African theatre will embody their joint commitment for the stabilisation of the region”, say the two parties in a statement adopted after the Franco-German Security and Defence Council. The FGB is a strong symbol of Franco-German defence cooperation and this year it celebrates its 25th anniversary. (AN/transl.fl)
