Brussels, 04/02/2014 (Agence Europe) - The EU has granted Algeria a subsidy of €13 million as partial funding for a support programme for reforms in the transport sector, known as “Transport II”. Algeria will cover the rest of the costs of the project (€16.5 million), the aim of which is to “assist and accompany the implementation of Algeria's transport strategy, by means of training and skills upgrading”.
The programme, which will run over 48 months, according to the European delegation in Algiers, comes as part of the “regional action plan” for the period 2014-2020 in the framework of the “5+5” dialogue (Western Mediterranean).
Speaking to the media, the head of the EU's delegation to Algiers, Marek Skolil, expressed his satisfaction at the results of the previous programme, “Transport I”. He stated that the programme had provided Algeria with the instruments and tools needed to manage the sector. (FB/transl.fl)
