Brussels, 10/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - EU heads of state will not be discussing industrial policy, energy, climate and other issues in February because the items on the agenda for the 13-14 February European Summit will be added to the summit of 20-21 March, which is due to discuss economic prospects. At the last European Summit (19-20 December 2013), Herman Van Rompuy said he was planning to cancel the February's summit because not enough time was left to prepare it. Europe's leaders had been planning in February to discuss industrial competitiveness in Europe and publish a conclusions document on innovation, finance for businesses, improving market conditions and the price of fuel. The Commission is planning to unveil measures on 22 January to further reduce the emission of greenhouse gas in the EU by 2030. The energy-climate strategy to 2030 will now be discussed at the Energy Council of 4 March. The other big issue of the February's summit's agenda was presentation of the “industrial package”. The Commission is planning to publish a report on this on 22 January. (LC/transl.fl)
