Brussels, 09/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - The Greek Presidency will continue its work on space policy in relation to surveillance of debris in space. Athens is contemplating a trialogue agreement on this subject to be reached during its coming term of presidency. Greece will also work on the Copernicus programme, the European Earth observation satellite initiative for which the first “sentinel” satellites are due to be launched in 2014. The Presidency plans, in this respect, to provide European delegations with an inventory of the situation during the Competitiveness Council of 26 and 27 May, with special emphasis on data from the Earth observation satellite data for commercial purposes.
Furthermore, the Greek Presidency plans to continue discussions on bringing the European Union and the European Space Agency closer together. (MD/transl.jl)
