Andor says migrants from eurozone will also pose a problem

Brussels, 07/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 7 January, European Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion Laszlo Andor said he was “convinced” that the issues linked to the free movement of Romanian and Bulgarian workers in the member states, and especially in Germany and the UK, “will clear up after several weeks” “when it is noted that there are no massive influxes” (see EUROPE 10990). Andor believes, however, that these issues would certainly continue to be discussed, but rather for “the ever greater number of migrants coming from the countries of the eurozone periphery”, he said during a press conference. In Andor's view, this “immigration” from the countries of the south of the eurozone towards the countries of the north is currently greater than that of the Romanians and Bulgarians, and “this is a phenomenon to which we should pay attention”, he said. “The response to the eurozone crisis should enable these things to be sorted out”, he added.
