Brussels, 07/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - Nine vulnerable developing countries will continue to enjoy EU trade preferences under the system based on respect of human rights and good governance. Only Pakistan will enter the scheme for the first time.
Since 1 January 2014, the European Union has continued to offer enhanced access to the EU market for nine vulnerable developing countries - Armenia, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Georgia, Mongolia, Paraguay, Pakistan and Peru - under its generalised system of preferences, the GSP+. Pakistan is benefitting for the first time from the autonomous tariff preferences that were granted following the floods in that country in 2010, the system being based on respect by beneficiary countries of human and labour rights, environmental standards and the principle of good governance.
The new GSP+ is part of the revised GSP scheme which took effect on 1 January 2014. (EH/transl.jl)
