Brussels, 07/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - On 28 December, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton condemned “in the strongest terms” the rocket attack on Camp Hurriya/Liberty in Iraq on 26 December - the third attack of its kind in 2013, which reportedly left four dead and dozens wounded.
Ashton called on the Iraqi authorities to step up security measures around the camp so that its residents, members of the People's Mujahedin, might be protected from any further violence, and she urged the Iraqi government to find the perpetrators of the attack.
The EU has once more invited all parties to facilitate the work of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in the relocation of all Camp Hurriya residents to a permanent and safe location outside of Iraq as soon as possible, Ashton added. (CG/transl.fl)
