France loses attractiveness points to Americans. The results of the latest annual barometer from the Franco-American chamber of commerce AmCham reveal that France is losing ground to the US in terms of attractiveness, to the benefit of neighbouring countries. In the recent survey carried out by Bain Company, less than 13% of directors of American subsidiaries in France believe that the perception by their parent company of France's attractiveness as a destination for investment is positive. In 2011, 56% of them still thought this. Three reasons are given - the lack of visibility of the French government's political agenda, the lack of predictability about changes to legislation, and increasingly complex tax and labour legislation.
