06/01/2014 (Agence Europe) - 2014 is Serbia's year of European integration (B. Ruzic). On 5 January, the Serbian minister “without portfolio” for European integration, Branko Ruzic, said that 2014 “will be Serbia's year of European integration”, and he stated that the objective is “to open six negotiating chapters by the end of 2014”. Ruzic said that “the negotiation process with the EU must be tackled in a great amount of detail”, and he said that nearly 50 meetings with EU representatives will be held over the course of the year. In his opinion, the fact that Greece and Italy will hold the EU presidencies in 2014 is also in Serbia's favour “because these two countries are our friends in the process of European integration” (our translation throughout).
