Brussels, 18/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - MEPs on the internal market committee (IMCO) have called for a more efficient parcel delivery service. On Tuesday 17 December, they adopted the resolution by Pablo Arias Echeverria (EPP, Spain) setting out recommendations on the subject in order to improve consumer confidence in online shopping and therefore help this sector to develop further. One out of every two online purchasers has concerns about deliveries. MEPs are therefore calling for more transparency and more readily comparable information on delivery options, prices and conditions on the internet. The resolution also suggests that the European Commission looks at the value of developing an integrated tracking system. IMCO is also calling for greater flexibility on when parcels can be delivered/collected. The European Commission has presented a roadmap to improve parcel deliveries in cooperation with the sector.
