Brussels, 13/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - A report published by the Energy Council on 12 December lists progress in the foreign dimension of the EU's energy policy.
The report surveys changes in the global energy industry and progress on energy policy in the EU since 2011. The Lithuanian Presidency says that it stresses major progress in establishing an information exchange programme for inter-governmental agreements between individual member states and non-EU country on energy issues, a programme that will increase transparency and coordination at EU level through member states' notification of such agreements to the Commission. The report says that regulatory convergence is crucial for expanding the single market to neighbouring countries, as is seen with the Energy Community. The report points out that the EU member states favour a policy of diversification. (EH/transl.fl)
