Brussels, 09/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - At the Telecoms Council of 5 December, the Lithuanian Presidency reported back to the ministers about progress made on the proposed regulation on guidelines for the deployment and interoperability of trans-European telecommunications networks. The agreement reached with the European Parliament was endorsed by Coreper on 8 November and the text is due to be formally adopted by the Parliament at a forthcoming plenary meeting. The Council will take position following the EP's vote.
The Presidency also provided the ministers with information on the proposed regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions within the single market. Talks with the Parliament were launched in November and “are making good progress”. The aim is to reach a final agreement at first reading on this dossier of crucial importance for the single digital market, in other words before the forthcoming European elections. (IL/transl.fl)
