Brussels, 04/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 4 December, Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson for High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, announced that Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS) Helga Schmid will visit Kiev for the ministerial Council of the OSCE on 5-6 December. Ukraine currently holds the presidency of the OSCE. Schmid will take advantage of her visit to “speak to the Ukrainian authorities and opposition. She will deliver the message already delivered by President Barroso and she will talk with both in this context”, said Kocijancic.
No meeting in Brussels on 4 December. Contrary to the announcement of Ukraine's Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on 3 December that a Ukrainian delegation would visit Brussels on 4 December, no delegation has arrived, according to Ashton's spokesperson and the Ukrainian mission to the EU. “We are not expecting a Ukrainian delegation in Brussels today [4 December]. We will agree on a time and place through diplomatic channels. There is no meeting planned today [4 December]”, Kocijancic stressed.
Similarly, according to a Ukrainian diplomatic source, there is no visit planned this week. “The format and the parameters are currently being coordinated through diplomatic channels”, said Ukraine's Ambassador to the EU Kostiantyn Yelisiev. (CG/transl.fl)
