Brussels, 04/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - During the evening of 5 December, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Androulla Vassilou will take part in a citizens' dialogue at Bozar in Brussels - along with Isabelle Durant MEP (Greens/EFA, Belgium) and Placido Domingo, the tenor and President of Europa Nostra. The dialogue on the future of Europe will focus on the means for exiting the crisis, the future of Europe and, more particularly, the role of culture as a catalyst for European integration. “The citizens' dialogue is an excellent way for European decision-makers to hear the views of the public first hand”, said Vassiliou.
This citizens' dialogue in Brussels is organised by the Representation of the European Commission in Belgium and the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, in partnership with Bozar and Europa Nostra, as part of the European Year of Citizens. Several debates have already been organised with commissioners over the course of 2013, during which citizens have been able to state their expectations of the European Union. The information gathered at the end of the dialogues will contribute to giving direction to the Commission in the preparation of its plans for future reform of the EU, the Commission states.
