18/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - Ashton satisfied with conduct of elections in northern Kosovo. On 18 November, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton said she was pleased that the elections in northern Kosovo had gone peacefully - in the three polling stations where incidents had occurred on 3 November and where the elections had been cancelled. “I am pleased to see the preliminary results coming through from Mitrovica North, from yesterday's re-run of elections which went peacefully”, she said on arriving at the Foreign Affairs Council. “We look forward to hearing properly the exact nature of the results. But this is an important part of the moving forward of Serbia and Kosovo”, she added. According to the Kosovo electoral commission, the turnout rate was 22.38%. The voting was conducted under the watchful eye of local police - as well as of Eulex and Kfor. (CG/transl.fl)
