Brussels, 05/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 4 November, Iranian president, Hassan Rohani, emphasised that the Iranian government was not “optimistic about the ideas put forward by the West and the ongoing negotiations” on the nuclear programme.
According to the official Iranian press agency, Irna, Rohani did inform Iranian MPs, however, that “this does not mean to say that there is no hope of resolving the problems provoked by Western economic sanctions”. He explained that “we cannot expect that these problems are resolved in such a short time frame” and said that his government had been concentrating on “getting the unfair sanctions against Tehran withdrawn”. EU High Representative, Catherine Ashton, told EUROPE that “the nuclear talks are complex and have entered a serious phase. The E3+3 and Iran have agreed to keep the talks confidential in order to focus on the substance. We hope to make concrete progress in the upcoming round of talks in Geneva” on 7-8 November.
