Progress in Sejdic-Finci ruling implementation

Brussels, 05/11/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 31 October, the Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Füle, acknowledged the progress made and political determination demonstrated by the five political parties in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to harmonise their positions on implementation of the European Court of Human Rights' Sejdic-Finci decision. After a meeting which discussed the election of the two members of the Federation presidency, the commissioner said: “I can see that more progress and political determination has been demonstrated by the leaders to harmonise their respective positions”. He added that “this really is necessary and I am convinced that a final agreement can still be reached as consultations continue” (see EUROPE 10934).

Füle highlighted the determination to pursue consultations at expert level this week in Brussels and, “if necessary, follow-up consultations in Bosnia and Herzegovina before we are ij a position to organise another meeting” with Bosnian leaders. (CG/transl.fl)
