30/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Mergers: Vodafone Group/Vodafone Omnitel. On 30 October, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the acquisition of sole control of Vodafone Omnitel N.V., of the Netherlands, by Vodafone Group Plc, of the United Kingdom. Vodafone Group Plc is a global company that is involved in the operation of mobile telecommunications networks and the provision of related services. Vodafone Omnitel N.V. is active in the provision of mobile telephony, internet and fixed telephony services in Italy. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns as Vodafone Omnitel N.V is already jointly controlled by the Vodafone Group and there are only very limited overlaps between the two companies' activities.
