Tajani in Israel to boost industrial cooperation

Brussels, 21/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Strengthening business relations and exploring further opportunities for European SMEs on the Israeli market will be the main focus of this week's visit, as part of the Missions for Growth initiative, to Israel by Commission Vice-President Antonio Tajani, Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship. During the visit, Tajani, who will be accompanied by more than 65 industry associations and companies, will meet key Israeli ministers and President Shimon Peres.

In the course of the visit, Tajani will meet Israel's Minister of Economy Naftali Bennett to discuss how to further develop cooperation in industrial policy and innovation. The two will sign a letter of intent on industrial policy cooperation. The commissioner will also meet Uzi Landau, Minister of Tourism, to discuss cooperation in the field of tourism, Yaakov Perry, Minister of Science, Technology and Space, to discuss cooperation in the field of space. A meeting is also scheduled with Minister of Energy and Water Resources Silvan Shalom at which he will exchange views on boosting green and sustainable growth both in Israel and in the EU.

Bennett and Tajani will also sign a letter of intent on SME cooperation in order to create a more business-friendly environment conducive to investments. The aim for the EU is to help European businesses, and in particular small businesses, operate on the Israeli market.

On 22 October, the EU party will meet local entrepreneurs in a match-making event to forge contacts and seek business opportunities in key sectors, such as environmental technologies, key enabling technologies, machinery and machine tools, information and communication technology, raw materials and space technologies.
