Brussels, 17/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament's employment and social affairs committee was unable to vote on the interinstitutional agreement on the European globalisation adjustment fund (EGF) (see EUROPE 10942). This was because of an error in the text that was to be put to the vote. The only consequence of this is to delay the committee's vote until 5 November, with the plenary session approval still coming in November. The EGF allocation for 2014 to 2020 will be €150 million and the level of co-funding will be 60%. The EGF will be able to intervene to address the consequences of the current crisis or a new economic crisis. It may be used to support freelance workers and provide temporary assistance for unemployed young people who are not in education or in training in one of the regions that come within the initiative to encourage youth employment.
