07/10/2013 (Agence Europe) Air traffic controllers demonstrate on 14 October. On 14 October, further strikes by air traffic controllers are planned, which is likely to result in problems in the air transport sector. The European Transport Workers Federation (ETF) has indicated that around 200 of their members from across the whole of Europe will be demonstrating in front of the European Parliament during an MEPs' meeting of the transport and tourism committee. They are seeking to draw attention to the concerns created by the proposals contained in the Single Sky 2+, which will soon be examined by the European institutions. They are particularly critical of the proposed liberalisation of the air traffic control services in the industry and separation of support services. They are calling for quality jobs and a “human factor” pillar to be protected in this sector. (MD/transl.fl)
