16/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Stefan Füle expresses EU's concern at attacks on civil society members. In Yerevan on 13 September, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle underlined the EU's concern about the recent attacks on members of civil society in Armenia and about the cases of intimidation of human rights supporters. As the EU delegation to Yerevan has stressed, Füle called on the Armenian authorities to take “prompt and decisive” action to bring the perpetrators to justice without delay. The European delegation recalled that respect of democratic principles, human rights and fundamental freedoms remains an essential element in the bilateral agenda with Armenia. At least five activists have been attacked in Yerevan since 25 August. (CG/transl.fl)
