Brussels, 16/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - In an interview with the NRC Handelsblad newspaper this weekend, the head of the French Front National, Marine Le Pen, explained that she wanted to campaign in the European elections next year with Geert Wilders, the leader of the Dutch populist PVV party. She stated: “We should campaign together in the elections. It is important that the voters see that we are not on our own and similar patriotic organisations exist in other EU countries”. Le Pen says that there are many points in common between her party and that of Geert Wilders. She added that “we are fighting against suffocating immigration and Islamisation. We are proud of our culture and are taking action against a Europe that is imposing rules that no one wants”. Having raised his profile through anti-Islamic diatribes, Wilders, recently spoke out on his website and called for the Dutch people to denounce the “abuses” being committed by nationals from member states that recently joined the EU. Le Pen has been an MEP since 2004. Wilders was elected in 2009 but immediately refused to take his seat at the European Parliament. (SP/transl.fl)
